Research Interests

I am interested in the evolution of complex social systems: how individual strategies combine and compete to drive collective behaviour, how groups interact with each other,  and the consequences that his has for individual fitness and group structure. My current focus is on the within-group consequences of between-group conflict in primates, but I also study the behavioural ecology and habitat preferences of humpback whales and how these relate to sexual strategies and human disturbance.
